How To Make Your Resume Compete In A Tough Job Market

by Darrell Price

Whether you are new to the job market, in transition or making a career change, it is essential to have a fine-tuned resume working for you. Perhaps you have sent out tons of resumes already but are not seeing the results you had hoped.

You cannot rely on your old, outdated resume if you want to compete in a highly competitive job market. It is essential for you to have a well-written resume to use as your best negotiating tool.

A well-written resume should intrigue your prospective employer so much that he or she cannot wait to meet you. And that’s exactly what a great resume will do. It will get you in the door to negotiate with your prospective employer for that all-important interview.

So your first line of defense is to throw out the old resume and bring in the new. Well maybe not throw it out, but give it a resume makeover.

A resume makeover will grab the attention of your prospective employers by focusing on their wants and needs, not yours. This is one of the most deadly mistakes a resume can make.

By focusing on your employer’s needs and not yours, shows the company that you will be an asset from the very start. Another common mistake is to make requests on salary requirements to your prospective employer during the interview process.

You will want to negotiate your salary requirements after the interview. If the employer asks you during the interview then the best answer is to follow up with a question, “What will the salary pay in this position?”

Make your resume shine by giving it an extreme resume makeover rewritten by a qualified copywriter or resume writer. They are experts at highlighting your unique skills, strengths and experiences.

Your resume makeover should set you apart from the rest of the applicants. By focusing on the need of your potential employer, you are far more likely to get noticed and get an interview.

Do not let a less qualified person get your dream job that you truly deserve.

Vintage Engagement Rings For Beauty And Style

by George C.Baycan

Typically anything that is labeled vintage comes from the not too distant past. With regardless to jewelry this usually includes the last century, although some things that are vintage can also be antique. Some vintage is more retro, dating back even to as recent as the 1970s.

Most of the engagement rings from these time periods had very distinctive qualities that uniquely categorize the rings as being vintage. Typically the rings included both yellow and white gold combinations on the bands, however platinum was and is also used in creating some very unique settings and bands.

The bands in these slightly older styles of engagement rings tend to be different from modern band styles. The shank or back part of the band is often very small and round while the front is flatter, raised and wider. On many of the rings in vintage collection the band is often yellow gold and the settings or mounts in white gold. Not only does this add detail but it also collects light and focuses it in on the diamonds.

Rather than completely all small diamonds or one large diamond, vintage rings tend to use more medium to smaller sized diamonds to create the sparkle and shine. Other precious and semi-precious stones are common in settings for these types of engagement rings.

Although a more antique cut, cushion cut diamonds are still often found in vintage engagement rings. This cut is very soft in overall appearance and tends to be seen as a central diamond or as a medium to larger sized solitaire. Several cushion cut diamond rings also are interlocking or curved bands and present a beautiful and original looking ring set.

Originally known as candlelight diamonds, cushion cut diamonds were in highest demand at the turn of the century. The softer facets really reflected light from candles, hence the common name for the cut. Almost all cushion cut diamonds are an oval to soft rectangular shape but there is lots of variation.

The facets on vintage style or new versions of the cushion cut diamond tend to include longer, more open facets. This allows slightly more light loss from the diamond, resulting in the softer reflection without loosing all the light internally. Generally these diamonds are used as either solitaire or in pave type settings surrounded by smaller diamonds.

Vintage engagement rings featuring some of the detailed filigree and metal work from these earlier times are a great option for a classic yet unusual style. Browsing through estate jewelry sales for rings or purchasing a new creation of a modern classic are both great options for finding these styles of engagement rings.

The Secrets To Achieving Bathroom Bliss Designs

by Janice Nickole

Did you know that bathroom designs date far back to the Greek and Roman days who really founded the idea that relaxation can be enjoyed in a big spa-like bathtub filled with mineral salts? They actually enjoyed it with other members of the community in a “communal bath” and believed the mineral salts contained healing properties.

Well, we’ve incorporated the same concept of healing and medicinal properties in our bathroom designs today. Only the relaxation concept has changed from the communal bath to just one person, you, relaxing in a large tub with jets, soaking in something like lavender salts, that comfort and soothe our sore and tired muscles.

Peace and tranquility are the key elements of great bathroom design. It is the design theme that is carried through from start to finish. Our bathrooms should offer us a type of “oasis” to retreat to. A private sanctuary to escape the worries and cares of the world, and slip into a “spa-like” sensation we can enjoy with or without the tub jets.

For the ultimate in relaxation, light fragrant candles, play soft music in the background and soak in hot water mixed with lavender mineral salts. Doesn’t this sound like “bathroom bliss”?

This is the secret that most health spas use today. They know how to incorporate the maximum benefits of relaxation techniques to relieve our tension and stress we all tend to bring home from the office. In essence they have achieved the ultimate in “bathroom bliss”.

Now you know the secret to achieve the very same design principle in your own bathrooms no matter how large or small.

You will need to start with a design theme that is calm and soothing like a Japanese or English garden. Choose from either cool colors like blues and greens or warm colors like reds, gold and orange.

Bathroom fixtures come in all sorts of colors, sizes and shapes so you’ll need some help from your store representative or Interior Designer to help you choose the right one. Consider selections for your tubs, sinks, faucets, flooring and lighting. Just remember to stick with your design theme.

Top off with design accents like plush towels and accent rugs. Soon you’ll have your private “oasis” that you can escape to. It’s your “bathroom bliss” that you can enjoy each and every day because you deserve it.

How To Pick A Great Web Hosting Provider 5 Steps To Ensure Satisfaction In Your New Web Host

by Mike Willingham

Choosing a web host isn’t the easiest thing to do. If you aren’t careful, you might find yourself in a nightmare situation with a host that doesn’t provide quality service, respond to technical support requests, or provide solid up-time for your website(s). There is a huge selection of companies providing web hosting services, and to someone unfamiliar with the industry, it’s very easy to end up with the wrong provider for your needs. Here are five tips to hopefully get you pointed in the right direction.

1: Define your needs. If your web site is a small or medium-sized informational site with a few graphics, it will require less disk space and bandwith than a multi-product e-commerce site will. If your site uses a specific programming language such as PHP or ASP.NET, you will be required to use a web host that offers hosting in that particular language. If you plan to sell online, your host must include e-commerce security and shopping cart functions. Knowing what to look for will help you find a suitable web host.

2. Bandwidth. Your website will generate traffic. The amount of traffic that is driven to your website will determine how much bandwidth you will need. If you are a small business owner or have a personal website, a small amount of bandwidth, such as 5 MB, should be enough. To stay competitive, many web hosts now offer unlimited bandwidth. If you foresee heavy traffic to your site, ensure you read the fine print to avoid overage charges because unlimited usually has restrictions.

3: Windows vs. Linux Servers This issue is a little more advanced, but it can still apply to many people. Lots of web hosting companies only focus on providing Linux or UNIX operating system-based servers, which may or may not include the ability to run scripting languages like ASP. If you know that your website will require applications often associated with Windows platforms, don’t assume it’ll be compatible with any random host. Check to see if they offer Windows hosting first.

4: Read The Review Forums! There are many websites with forums dedicated to discussing and reviewing the various hosting providers, and they are often an invaluable source of information that can help you make your decision. Look out for the forums that just want to make money off of ads, though. Find a community with many thousands of members so you know it’s the real deal.

5: What is included with the package? Is FTP allowed? File Transfer Protocol allows for uploading files directly from your computer to the hosting server. Most web sites are uploaded using FTP and it should be an included feature. Are email accounts included with the hosting package? How many? Does that include POP accounts or just web mail? Look for a web host that offers both. How often does the host backup the web site? Many hosts do backups every 24 hours to prevent data loss in case of a server crash.

So there you have it. Those tips should have you well on your way to becoming a safer shopper when it comes to purchasing your new web hosting service. Just remember, if there’s anything you’re unsure about with a particular host, just keep moving, because the choices are nearly endless! Good luck!

The Realities Of Blogging For Income

by Matthew Paulson

In the last few years the number of people who are trying to blog for secondary income has increased dramatically. People think that if they can write some letters into a word document and get approved by Google AdSense they’ll make some money. It’s a lot more complicated than that, there’s much more to it than just writing, this is why so many blogger’s only last one or two months. If you want to start a blog for some secondary income, here’s what it takes.

Regular Quality Content - This is where you should spend about 80% of your effort. Your blog won’t be successful unless you regularly provide good quality content for your readers to consume. If you do everything else right, and don’t write quality content on a regular basis, your blog will not be successful. You should really post at least once a day, if you want your blog to grow at a reasonable rate.

Marketing and Promotion - You can have the best articles in the world, but it doesn’t matter unless you actively work to let others know that your blog exists. You have to submit your articles to blog carnivals, tell all your friends and family about it, put it on your email signature, make sure Google knows about it, comment on similar blogs, and so much more. This will be the second most time consuming part of your efforts.

Passion - You have to actually enjoy what you’re writing about, and not just care about the money. If you’re only focused on the money, you’ll give up long before your blog becomes reasonably profitable. If your heart’s not in what you’re writing about, it’ll show up in your work and your readership will suffer because of it.

The Backend - If you’re a beginning blogger, you probably won’t worry about this too much, and will just go with a Blogger or WordPress account. This works fine for a while, but if you get more than a couple of thousand visitors a day, those free services just won’t work for you. You’ll need to find a good hosting solution for your blog. This requires some research and some technical expertise to setup the blogging software in most cases.

Page Design - There are some really ugly blogs out there, and if you want to be successful, your blog has to be somewhat aesthetically pleasing. You’ll need to find a good existing template which is available for use or better yet design your own.

Patience - Nobody becomes an instant success blogging. It takes a while to build readership, to get Google and other search engines to notice your site, and for other bloggers to recognize you and promote your website. It can be up to a year or two before your blog gets any reasonable amount of traffic. It’s going to be a while before you make an serious money at it too. You’ll be working for pennies an hour when you start out.

Community Participation - Blogging is not a one person activity, for every category of blog there’s a web-based community around it. For example, all of the big personal finance bloggers have a forum in which they chat, they comment on each other’s blogs, and regularly communicate and work together. You have to get involved in whichever niche community you fall into so that the other sites will recognize you over time and send readers to your blog.

Optimization - Once you get a reasonable amount of traffic going to your website, say 1000 viewers a day, you’re going to have to start playing with things to make some more revenue.

This could mean changing the page design a bit, moving your ads around, and doing all sorts of experimentation to make sure that you’re getting the most money for your visitors. You’ll also have to optimize your HTML so that it loads in a timely manner, and make sure that search engines are seeing your blog and that they’re sending some readers over to you.

Blogging is certainly not an easy way to make money. It takes time, dedication, commitment, and some serious amount of work. It can be a good hobby at first which doesn’t pay much, but might turn into a nice part-time job as time goes on. Good luck.
